LAST weekend I spent two days at a big ol’ blogging conference.

Otherwise known as BritMums Live.

It was a brilliant weekend. I laughed, I cried (happy tears), I caught up with blogging pals and made some lovely new ones, and of course I learnt quite a bit too.

Many bloggers have written about the conference in detail – if want to read more, just search the hashtag #BritMumsLive on Twitter and you’ll find all manner of super posts on it! – but I want to take up a few moments of your time, if I may today, and make everyone concentrate on the DRESSES.

Because let me tell you, there were dresses in abundance at BritMums Live!

Everywhere I looked, in every direction, was a gorgeous frock to behold and so naturally, I thought it was was my job to share some of them with you today.

I don’t know whether it’s the fact that most bloggers at the conference were busy mums (and so were making the most of their child-free time and going hell for leather with their style!), but the outfit of choice for most of us was the dress.

I wore two dresses across the two days, my favourite being this lovely number from Precis Petite who kindly gifted it to me for the conference. I know, I’m a jammy ol’ devil that is true.

(Oh and btw, if you love it, it’s actually now in the sale for just £49!)

I wanted to look professional yet stylish and feminine, so this dress ticked all the boxes for me and also took me effortlessly from day into night. Which is very important when the focus is chatter and inspiration over lots of wine, let me tell you!

Here I am smiling in a phone snapshot…

And here I am ‘Pouting In Heels‘, because well, you know, I just have to sometimes. *winks*

What can I say? Pouting in heels comes naturally to me! ;-)

But enough about me, it’s time feast your eyes on this beautiful bunch!

Here is a gorgeous gaggle of brilliant bloggers wearing some very fabulous frocks and sharing a few thoughts about them too. Ladies, you all looked simply SENSATIONAL. x

Fiona from the Only Free Range Chick wore Blue Vanilla.

“I had stumbled upon an absolute bargain of a clothing brand called Blue Vanilla whilst in New Look recently.

“I needed another frock, so headed to the Blue Vanilla website and found this pretty, lace number in white.  I loved the dress, as the colour showed off my complexion, not to mention the gorgeous charm pendant from OAK that I wore to the event.”

Beautiful Hannah looking fantastic in French Connection.

Hannah from Mums’ Days wore French Connection.

“My dress was a bit of a last minute purchase. Work had been busy all week but as I was on my way to meet a friend, I had ten minutes to run into French Connection.

This dress jumped off the shelf at me! Well, OK, not literally but I spotted it across a crowed sales floor and the minute I tried it on, I knew it was the one; on sale and the perfect fit. That never happens and certainly not in 10 minutes! I dressed it down with a denim jacket and black tights, and felt comfortable and confident in it all day.”

Lauren looking bloomin’ lovely in Joe Browns maxi dress. (And posing with some pals).

Lauren from Mummy Is A Gadget Geek wore Joe Browns.

“I wore it because I love the way it makes me feel – it’s comfortable and floaty and even if the weather is bad it seems like it’s sunny anyway!”

Amy looking like a total goddess in Gina Bacconi.

Amy from Mr and Mrs T Plus Three wore Gina Bacconi.

‘‘I choose this dress because I love wrap style dresses. They do so much for a woman’s figure in such an understated way. I felt fabulous in this dress and loved the subtle snake print and feel of luxurious material’.”

Vicki looking gorgeous in Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert.

Vicki from Honest Mum & Mummy’s Got Style wore Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert.

“I wore this elegant navy cocktail dress by Lorcan Mullany for Jacques Vert, for the Brilliance in Blogging Awards where my blog Honest Mum was a finalist in the Style category.

“Chic, flattering, and a colour I rarely wear (but will do more, now) I felt truly confident in my frock. Thanks Jacques Vert!”

Cathryn looking gorgeous in florals and denim.

Cathryn from Cardiff Mummy Says wore Uttam London (Yumi)

“It’s by Uttam London and it’s one of the best dresses I’ve ever bought. I bought it back in 2011 when I was five months pregnant. It’s not a maternity dress but the design and fabric meant it fitted well over my bump – and I was so pleased that it looked just as good, and fitted just as well, when I wasn’t pregnant.

“It’s amazing to travel with as it doesn’t crease, and folds up really small. I’m a petite five foot nothing, so struggle to get maxi dresses to fit, but the design of this one meant it was easy to get a couple of inches chopped off the bottom without affecting the line of the dress. I love wearing this dress. It makes me feel confident yet feminine at the same time.”

Lovely Lucy looking chic in a striped dress from TK Maxx.

Lucy from Mrs Bishop’s Bakes & Banter wears a dress from TK Maxx.

“I’ve always had a thing for Breton stripes, anything nautical and love colour blocking so when I saw this dress I fell in love! Amazingly it only cost £11.99 from TKMaxx!

“This dress was a super special wear for me as I’ve shed nearly 7 stone in the past 21 months & wearing something so fitted and short was a big step: I’m slowly building my confidence and learning to embrace my new smaller frame.”

Clare blooms in Isabella Oliver.

Clare from Maybush Studio wears Isabella Oliver.

“My dress was from Isabella Oliver and I’d be trying to decide whether or not to buy it for weeks as it was quite expensive and it is maternity wear! I eventually bought it when they were doing 20% off, so I got it for £80 rather than £100 and I wore it to both the Friday night meal at Blogtacular and Britmums Live on the Friday and I’m also planning to wear it to my sister-in-laws wedding next month.

“I had a couple of compliments on my dress at BML which was so lovely of people and such a confidence boost when you are pregnant!

Elizabeth from Rosalilium wore Oasis (V & A Collection)

“I love the beautiful William Morris floral design on this dress. The fabric is structured and thankfully, for a white dress, it’s fully lined. It feels ultra feminine to wear and is ideal for summery fun occasions such as BritMums.”

joules dress

Hannah from Hannah Spannah Coco Banana wore Joules.

“I wore a dress by Joules on day one. I chose it as it’s one of my favourite shops and anything I buy from there makes me feel happy and confident!”

Kate looks incredible in Lands End.

Kate from Darktea wore Lands End.

“I wore dresses both days and I felt great in both of them. This year I’ve lost 2.5 stone and I’m back at my pre pregnancy weight for the first time in years. I was apprehensive of wearing the second dress as it is clingy, but had no worries once I walked out of the hotel room.”

Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who sent me an image of their BritMums Live #DreamDress. Next year, I’ll be taking my camera and snapping on the go, to make sure I capture of many as them as I can!

And of course a huge thank you to Precis Petite for my beautiful dress and helping me to feel at my very best. x

  • Aww thanks so much for featuring me darling, what a lovely post! I have total dress envy looking at some of these and especially love Elizabeth’s Oasis dress (LOVE the V&A collection) and how blooming marvellous does Clare from Maybush studios look? I hope I can look that incredible when I’m pregnant again! Lucy xxxx

  • This is such a great post, thank you for including me. It’s a lovely celebration of one of the many positive aspects of BML and I’m honoured to be included alongside such great bloggers

  • Wow what a gorgeous collection of dresses. I love how everyone made such an effort. Truly honoured to be featured here Katie, thank you so much for including me! Xxx

  • Oh my goodness! Here I am, slightly late to the party (so sorry, Katie!) owing to various life stuff going on. Anyway, I’ve been bursting to say how amazing everyone looked over the BML weekend. Everyone made such an effort and looked totally the part for this fun and summery London event. It was a privilege to be there (almost didn’t make it!) and meet so many folks.

Katie, you didn’t fail to live up to everything I thought you would be in real life – completely and genuinely lovely, not to mention drop dead gorgeous (and really rather tall). Your Friday frock was fabulous, as were those heels (never mind the pain, they looked super).

It’d be super to meet you again before next year’s BML. But in the meantime, thank you so much for thinking of me for this post – what an honour! xx
