CELEBRATING THE LITTLE BLACK DRESS – WEARING FEVER LONDON

Fever London red

OK, it’s been a while I know.

What can I say, I completely underestimated the amount of work involved to run not one, but two blogs.

(Lesson learnt there folks!)

Anyhow, I hope you’ll forgive my absence for the last few weeks and that this post will make it all up to you, a little.

Because today, I want to celebrate and champion the little black dress, otherwise known as the LBD.

(You know something is good when it’s known by just capitals, right?!)

I love this black, sixties-inspired Fever London dress. It’s been in my possession for about nine months now and I’ve worn it several times.

It’s classic, it’s easy to wear and best of all, somehow, it makes me feel French, perhaps a little Parisian even!

BritMumsLive: The best frocks and the women wearing them

LAST weekend I spent two days at a big ol’ blogging conference.

Otherwise known as BritMums Live.

It was a brilliant weekend. I laughed, I cried (happy tears), I caught up with blogging pals and made some lovely new ones, and of course I learnt quite a bit too.

Many bloggers have written about the conference in detail – if want to read more, just search the hashtag #BritMumsLive on Twitter and you’ll find all manner of super posts on it! – but I want to take up a few moments of your time, if I may today, and make everyone concentrate on the DRESSES.

Because let me tell you, there were dresses in abundance at BritMums Live!

Everywhere I looked, in every direction, was a gorgeous frock to behold and so naturally, I thought it was was my job to share some of them with you today.

I don’t know whether it’s the fact that most bloggers at the conference were busy mums (and so were making the most of their child-free time and going hell for leather with their style!), but the outfit of choice for most of us was the dress.

I wore two dresses across the two days, my favourite being this lovely number from Precis Petite who kindly gifted it to me for the conference. I know, I’m a jammy ol’ devil that is true.

How to find work dresses that will ‘work’ for you AND your job

ToDreamOfDressesFINAL 24

I‘M a big believer that when it comes to work, you gotta dress to impress.

And nothing impresses me more than a woman who knows how to wear a dress for work. Who knows how to ‘work it, work it’ to her advantage and wear it well.

Because it’s not so easy. You’d think it would be but it’s not.

Dresses are wonderful but often tricky to get right. Especially for work.

But when you do crack it, when you do find the holy grail of work dresses, boy can they elevate you and make people take notice!

In a sea of boring black suits, a stunning work dress will help you to stand out for all the right reasons. (Leaving all of your competitors quaking in their dull, safe court shoes.)

Here’s how to find the perfect work dress, followed by a big dose of shopping inspiration (because let’s face it, we all need it at times).

Cheery in yellow – wearing Precis Petite

ToDreamOfDressesFINAL 58

L AST week I talked about the yellow dress that got away…

so today I thought I’d share one that didn’t!

This lovely frock was kindly sent to me by Precis Petite (don’t be put off by the ‘Petite’ bit, I’m 5ft6 and this dress was absolutely fine on me!) as one of two, to help me get this dress blogging started!

And I have to tell you it certainly knows how to cheer me up and brighten up a gloomy grey day. Especially when mixed with the largest balloon arrangement I have ever seen!

Because although I absolutely adore timeless little black dresses, let’s face it, wearing a bold, vibrant colour that suits your colouring, just helps to make you look and feel great.

It makes you look younger, it helps disguise those big dark circles under your eyes (thank you Elsie darling!) and it just gives you a bit of pizazz. A bit of flair. A bit of boldness. On those days when perhaps you’re feeling anything but!

Such is the power of a dream dress.
